If you don't trust your real estate agent you should find another. There might be other offers that your real estate agent can not discuss with you.
You should not add any additional funds to your offer as it is difficult to get these funds back even if your offer is rejected. Not only that you are losing any potential interest by placing your funds in escrow.
Offers are faxed to the seller's agent even if the seller is a bank, therefore it would not surprise me if offers arrive in a few hours.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

I'm assuming that this is a new foreclosure listing.
These types of listing, are intentionally priced low to attract multiple offers. Just becase you offer asking price doesn't mean you'll get it. The listing agent/broker is trying to start a bidding war which would most likely get offers higher than the asking price.
Once they get multiple offer, they will give all the bidders/buyers a chance to put up their highest and best offer.
I doubt if your agent is scamming you. The agents commission wouldn't increase drastically with a few thousand dollars change in the purchase price. Trust me, it's not worth the hassle of nicle and diming you.
