Whatever happened with the 300 BILLION dollar housing bill that Senate passed in July?

This was a big deal at the time, it was supposed to allow banks to rewrite mortgages of people in trouble, insure high risk loans, etc. It was also supposed to give cities money to buy foreclosed homes in their area to fix up and rent out.

Why does no one discuss this anymore? Are the banks not rewriting the loans? I think, if I remember correctly, taxpayers would pick up the difference and the homeowner would have to pay a percentage back if they sold their home in a certain time frame.

Can anyone tell me if they have heard anything about this, or was this just another 300 BILLION that our government wasted with no results?

This makes me sick, how can 300 Billion be discussed so much back then, and now we hear nothing and things aren't any better?
